Local Author/Historian Richard Rutherford-Moore
After a long walk round the village the parade moved up Main Street
to the Jonathan Labray field, venue of the Get-Together
The main event featured in the central arena was based on the old favourite
'It's a Knockout'. Local groups all entering their teams for some weird and
wonderful races (usually involving water). This event involved transporting your
team member in a wheel barrow around the course dressed up in a gents jacket
and trousers whilst the passenger in the wheelbarrow wore a long dress.
Half way round they swapped places and clothes.
Barry the Clown entertained the children and produced
some animal balloons.
The local school St Wilfrids (year 4) entertained the crowd with a dance routine
