There is a sinking feeling in my mind.
For I remember when the headstocks rose into the sky
and winding wheels delivered souls into the depths.
To mine for us the sunshine buried there below, that power locked in diamonds black, which drove the turbines then lighten all our lives.
Do not forget these men, who spent lives in darkness.
So that we, at a touch of a switch, could light our lives in so many ways.
My dad was once a miner, so was his dad, and so was I.
Although the need for coal has gone do not forget it did provide the
road  to now. When we so lucky in the progress life has made enjoy
the comfort 'their' need to live has given us.
