The Semi-final was a music round.
Mick Truman had three Rolling Stones songs to recognize, Cheryl Mosley had three Beatles songs and Stan Daykin had three Elvis Presley tunes. Mick scored zilch, Stan scored the same and Cheryl got a mighty three out of three. Guess who was then voted off - Cheryl!!!! She was far too clever and unfortunately up against a couple of masterminds.
The Final round.
Eventually after 12 questions and only three correct answers. The 'Brain of Calverton' is Stan Daykin. He won £150 for his charity. He split the money between the Allotment Association and the Core Centre. Mick Truman won nothing although he played his part brilliantly.

The participants in the annual 'Brain (?) of Calverton' quiz.
Mick Truman, Cheryl Mosley, Molly Cooper
Jack White junior, Tracey Radford, Stan Daykin
Doug Knight, Mark Fleetham
The quiz master for the night was "DAN" Robinson. He kept the
contestants in check. First to be voted off was Jack White he had
the misfortune of getting the hardest questions. Next off was
Mollie Cooper, pop music and soaps were not her strong point.
Mark Fleetham was next to go.
He was a victim of tactical voting. Even though he was the
strongest player the sunderland fan still had to complete the
walk of shame. Tracey Radford was the next to walk the plank
even though she was the strongest link for two rounds!!
Doug Knight, representing the St Johns, was voted off next even
though he was one of only two people to get an answer correct.
Then came the 30 minute interval time for the last three to
recharge their batteries.
Thanks for the event go to all the groups that got involved, to the audience, Allison and Leisha for their help, the kids who behaved themselves impeccably, but the biggest thank you goes to George Keig for his continued enthusiasm for this event.
