Catholics held services in a house on North Green
3 Public Houses; Admiral Rodney, White Lion and The Gleaners
4 Shops; Shepherds, Bardills, Browns and, I think, Parrs
Northages, Beer Off-licence and General Store etc.
Billy Severn came in from Oxton with meat
Post Office
Mr Kemp the Cobblers
3 Butchers; Leafe's, Wright's and Fisher's
Leafe's and Wright's had their own slaughter houses
Shaws Hardware Van (came from Lowdham)
1 Co-operative store
1 Ladies Hairdressers
1 Barbers which is still going
Fish and Chip Shop
2 Bakers; Binch's and Milner's
Mr Kirk came from Lambley selling bread
Calverton Colliery
Barton's Bus Garage
Bus came from Mansfield to Bingham and back
2 Doctors came into the village one from Epperstone and Dr John Francis from Arnold.
The Doctors sat at Milner's opposite the Admiral Rodney three mornings a week
Lansdale the Optician
Blacksmith Milner's
Pictures (flicks) at the Institute also a baby clinic there
Chimney Sweeps; Sol Knight and Mr Bennett
